Drugstore owner hacked dead in Patuakhali

A drugstore owner has been hacked to death by unknown miscreants in Patuakhali Sadar upazila, according to The Daily Star.

The deceased was identified as Yusuf Mridha (45) of Tulatla area in Sadar upazila.

Local UP member Mizanur Rahman Talukder said Yusuf closed his pharmacy at the Patuakhali municipality area and started for home around 10:00 pm on Fridaya.

As he did not return home, his wife Nurunnahar Begum along with their three daughters left for the shop around 11:00 pm. But she found her husband lying in a pool of blood on their way, the UP member said.

After hearing her screaming, locals rushed there and took Yusuf to Patuakhali Medical College Hospital where he died later.

Confirming the incident, Patuakhali Sadar Police Station's Officer-in-Charge Moniruzzaman said the body had several stab marks.

The body was sent to the Patuakhali Medical College morgue for an autopsy, the OC said.

The process is underway to file a case in this regard, he added.

Nurunnahar claimed that her husband was killed over a land dispute. "I want justice," she said.
