The persistent heat wave is unlikely to diminish throughout the remainder of this month. Currently, daytime temperatures are soaring, with hot air persisting even through the night.

However, there is a glimmer of hope on the horizon, as the Meteorological Department has forecasted the possibility of rain at the start of the upcoming month.

According to their predictions, Sylhet and Chittagong divisions may experience rain accompanied by gusty winds, offering some relief from the oppressive heat in those regions. Conversely, the northern districts, while not as scorching as Dhaka, Rajshahi, and Khulna, may still experience heightened temperatures for the rest of May.

On Thursday, at least 14 districts across the country endured severe heat waves, with temperatures exceeding 40 degrees Celsius. Over half of the districts recorded maximum temperatures ranging between 36 and 40 degrees Celsius.
