Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina raised questions “If I‍‍`m overthrown, who will take my place?” and warned the leftist that if necessary she might ask the police force to stop the protests in the ‘brutal’ style of American force.

Speaking at a press conference at the Ganobhaban after returning from Thailand on Thursday, the Prime Minister cautioned about the leftist 90-degree turn. "Last week, it was said that a conspiracy is underway against the ultra-right and ultra-left governments.”

In response to a question from a journalist, Awami League President said, ‍‍`We always think, the ultra-left is a very progressive party, they are very democratic. My question is, are they right to overthrow me? Who will come next? Have they decided that? That is my question, who will come? Who will come? Who will work for the country? Whom do they want to bring? But that‍‍`s not clear. And if it‍‍`s not clear, then they are not getting the support of the people.‍‍`"

Regarding the opposition‍‍`s movement, the Prime Minister said, "We have seen the possibility of taking a new path. If we ask our police to follow the way American police handle protests, we can do that. We can do that."

She further stated, "I think our police can follow the American police. Because we have been asked to be patient."

Responding to questions about recent killings of two Bangladeshi-origin individuals in the United States, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said, "Protests are not only happening here but also in America."

Referring to Tareq Rahman, the Prime Minister said, "Some are becoming fugitives and protesting abroad. We have made Digital Bangladesh, and because of Digital Bangladesh, protests are happening online every day. It‍‍`s going on with instructions. There are questions there too. Those who are protesting, we are not stopping them."

Sheikh Hasina said, "On October 28 last year, there was an arson attack in the name of movement. Our police have dealt with these patiently."

The Awami League president said, "We are protesting here. I have said, let them protest."

Earlier, on Monday morning, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina returned home after a six-day visit to Thailand. As part of bilateral and multilateral relations between the two countries, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina visited there on April 24 upon the invitation of Thai Prime Minister Sethra Thavisin.
