BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir was urgently admitted to the United Hospital in the city on Monday morning.
Shairul Kabir Khan, a member of the BNP's Media Cell, confirmed that he was promptly rushed to the hospital at around 12:30pm because he was feeling ill.
"Mirza Fakhrul suddenly became unwell while he was at the BNP chairman's office in Gulshan. He was then transported quickly to United Hospital. We don't yet have any information on this," he continued.
Heart issues, among other health issues that Fakhrul has been dealing with, got worse when he was recently imprisoned. He spent a week in Singapore receiving medical care before flying back home on Thursday.
