UN chief calls PM, requests to join GCRG Group

United Nation Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has invited Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to join the Champions' Group of Global Crisis Response on Food, Energy, and Finance (GCRG).

Earlier on Monday evening, the UN chief made a phone call to the PM and requested her to nominate a Sherpa (representative) to represent Bangladesh in this group as well as to carry out its endeavour under the mandate of the United Nations.

According to a press release issued by the Prime Minister's Office (PMO), the phone call lasted for 12 minutes.

Receiving the invitation, the PM thanked the UN chief and expressed confidence to fulfill the vision of the group as she looked forward to working closely with other leaders.

The presidents of Indonesia and Senegal and the prime ministers of Barbados and Denmark were also joining the same platform.

She also expressed her readiness to engage in high level dialogue, advocacy and outreach to fulfill the objectives of the group.
