Heat wave intensifies: Chief Heat Officer offers tips and solutions

As temperatures soar, reaching intolerable levels, Bushra Afrin, the Chief Heat Officer of Dhaka North City, has issued a timely advisory urging citizens to take precautions.

Afrin emphasized the importance of staying hydrated and carrying essential items such as water bottles, hats, fans, and umbrellas when venturing outdoors.

With each passing day, the heat continues to rise, prompting Afrin to advocate for extended holidays in educational institutions. Additionally, plans are underway to plant two lakh trees along the city‍‍`s roads as a measure to combat the heat.

In an interview with a local media outlet, Afrin stressed the significance of afforestation in urban areas, emphasizing the need for more green spaces and parks. She highlighted the adverse effects of deforestation, noting that nearly 80 percent of trees in Dhaka city have been felled, exacerbating temperature rise and contributing to various environmental challenges.

Afrin‍‍`s proactive approach and proposed solutions aim to alleviate the impact of the heat wave and foster a more sustainable and resilient urban environment.
