DU hall committees announced after five years

Dhaka University of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) on Wednesday has declared the committees of 18 residential halls.

Though the new committees have been declared for one year of tenure, the last committees were formed in 2016.

BCL central president Al Nahian Khan and general secretary Lekhak Bhattacharjee, DU unit president Sanjit Chandra Das and general secretary Saddam Hossain held a meeting on Tuesday night to finalise the new leadership at 18 student dormitories.

Earlier on Monday, the pro-Awami League student wing unit held a council in the university campus. A day before, the unit president and general secretary said, the new committees would be announced within a week.

The committees for 18 halls were formed on December 13 in 2016. Sanjit and Saddam were made new president and general secretary of the Dhaka University unit on July 31, 2018.

Though they duo declared to form new hall committee as early as possible, it was not possible for various reasons including lack of coordination between the DU unit and central body, expulsion of BCL president Rezwanul Haque Chowdhury Shovon and general secretary Golam Rabbani from their posts and engagement with Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU.)
