Saraswati Puja underway with utmost religious fervour

As it happens every year, Saraswati Puja, a cornerstone festival for the Hindu community, is being observed with great enthusiasm and religious fervour across the country.

This revered occasion falls on the fifth day of the bright fortnight in the Bangla month of Magh, known as Vasant Panchami.

Dedicated to Saraswati, the goddess of wisdom and knowledge, the festival holds special significance for students and educational institutions. Hindus gather to perform puja in educational institutions and temples, seeking blessings for enlightenment and learning.

In a gesture of solidarity and goodwill, President Mohammed Shahabuddin and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina have extended their warm wishes to the Hindu community on the occasion of Saraswati Puja.

Highlighting the day‍‍`s celebrations, the central puja celebration committee at Jagannath University is hosting an event on campus today.

Additionally, Dhaka is buzzing with festive arrangements, hosting multiple ceremonies at various locations, embracing the spirit of communal harmony and cultural heritage.

Saraswati Puja, performed on the Vasant Panchami day every year, is celebrated across the country, mostly in educational institutions, where the Hindu students seek the blessings of Ma Saraswati.

Depicted as a graceful woman with a crescent moon adorning her brow, she is shown riding a swan or a peacock, or is seated on a lotus flower.
On this auspicious day, Hindu children are also imparted their first lessons in reading and writing.
