Probe finds evidence of plagiarism against DU teacher

The probe committee which was formed to look into an allegation of plagiarism found evidence against associate professor Abul Kalam Lutful Kabir of the Pharmaceutical Technology Department of Dhaka University.

The university authorities formed a tribunal to penalize the accused teacher.

The decision came on during a syndicate meeting of the university Thursday (October 28).

Confirming the matter sources said, a probe body was formed headed by Pro-VC (Education) Professor Dr ASM Maksud Kamal. The committee found evidence of plagiarism which the body upheld in thereport.

During the meeting, a three-member tribunal was formed led by Law Faculty Dean Professor Dr Rahmatullah during syndicate meeting.

Earlier, allegations were raised against Lutful Kabir to resemble 98 per cent of information of a research paper produced by a BRAC university student titled ‘Tuberculosis and HIV Correlation and Co-infection in Bangladesh: An Exploration of Their Impacts on Public Health.’

Professor Abu Sara Shamsur Rouf was the supervisor of the research while another senior professor ABM Faruk was the co-supervisor.
