Panchagarh express coach derailed at Tangail, North Bengal rail link closed

Two coaches of Panchagarh Express derailed in the Tangail Bangabandhu Bridge area. This accident took place at Bangabandhu Setupurba railway station today, Monday (March 18) at around 9 pm. However, no casualties occurred in this accident. But, the railway connection between North Bengal and Dhaka has been severed.

Bangabandhu Bridge East Railway Station Master Shahinur Rahman Shaheen confirmed the matter and said that the Panchagarh Express train leaving from Panchagarh after stopping at Bangabandhu Bridge East Station and heading towards Dhaka, four wheels of a carriage derailed. The accident occurred due to a defect in the wheels of the train.

Alamgir Ashraf, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Bangabandhu Setupurba Police Station, said that once the rescue train arrives and removes the wheel, the train will run normally again. But how long it will take cannot be said for sure.
