No plans for school closure now: Health Minister

Health and Family Welfare Minister Zahid Maleque has said that the government is not mulling closure of educational institutions as of now, as the Covid-19 situation in the country is still under control. 

The health minister said that infections have spiked in many parts of the world, however, the situation in Bangladesh is still under control, therefore schools and colleges are open. 

There are no immediate plans to close schools. ”However, to curb transmissions, it has been decided that transportation services will operate on condition of half-capacity. 

“The government has taken several steps to control the Covid-19 situation. All district and upazila level hospitals and health workers are ready to provide services across the country. All shops must be closed by 8:00 pm. Dining at restaurants will be barred without vaccine certificate. Also public transporation services will operate on half-capacity, added the minister. 

He also warned that those out in the public without masks will be punished by law.
