The education minister said that schools may be kept open on Saturdays throughout the year from next year to coordinate the fasting holidays. He also said that the ministry will be extremely careful in all matters including the preparation of textbooks while respecting the beliefs and thoughts of people of all opinions.
Earlier, the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court stayed the High Court`s order suspending the decision to keep primary and secondary schools open during fasting. In this way, primary school is open for 10 days and secondary school is open for 15 days.
On the other hand, sources from the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education said that colleges across the country were kept open till March 24 on fasting.
