Injured journo leader dies by police tear gas

Rafiq Bhuiyan, a former executive member of BFUJ and a member of the National Press Club, who was injured by police tear gas during the violence surrounding the BNP convention, has died. DUJ president Shahidul Islam confirmed that he died while undergoing treatment at Birdem Hospital in the capital.

On Saturday around noon, while going to the National Press Club in a rickshaw from Madarktek residence in the capital, Rafiq Bhuiyan was knocked down by police tear gas near the old building of the National Board of Revenue in Segunbagicha area. He was later taken to Birdem Hospital with injuries.

Rafiq Bhuiyan suffered severe head injuries and brain hemorrhage, said the doctor on duty at Birdem Hospital.

He was known as journalist leader. He used to visit the press club regularly. Along with journalism, he used to write poems and rhymes.
