Govt planning to inoculate one crore citizens per month: Minister

Government is planning to push one crore Covid-19 shots on citizen’s arm in each month in a bid to fight coronavirus infection and it is working relentlessly to accomplish the target, said health minister Zahid Maleque.

He said this to newsmen while speaking to a press conference organized by Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) in the capital on Sunday (July 25).

The minister said, “75 per cent of total Covid patients undergoing treatment at different hospitals in capital Dhaka came from village. Infection of the deadly virus spread 5 to 6 times more due to travel during Eid occasion.”

Speaking on dengue outbreak the minister said, “Dengue fever created new crisis amid the coronavirus pandemic. More dengue patients are being admitted every day and enhancing the risk of Covid-19 contamination. So, amid such situation government is planning to initiate separate hospitals to treat dengue patients.”

As many as 19 thousand 46 people have died of coronavirus in the country till Saturday (July 24) with another 11 lakh 53 thousand 344 people contaminated. Alongside, some 9 lakh 88 thousand 339 people recovered so far.
