After a growing clamour surrounding rumours of a Quran found at a Puja Mandap, Deputy Education Minister Nawfel took it to his Facebook for expressing his remarks in connection with the incident.
No one will believe the desecration of the Holy Quran in the Durga Puja mandap in Bangladesh, unless they are lunatic and have complete lost their senses, said Deputy Education Minister Mahibul Hasan Chowdhury Nawfel.
He made the remarks in a status shared from his Facebook profile on Wednesday (October 13).
Nawfel writes in his status, "Even a lunatic will not believe that anyone will display the presumed audacity to defile the Holy Quran in any mandap of Durga Puja in Bangladesh!"
Rumors have been spread through social media that this sacrilegious incident has taken place in a Durga Puja mandapa in Cumilla!
In his Facebook status, the minister also wrote regarding rumours that Jamaat leader Delwar Hossain Sayedee was spotted on the moon a few years back. Upon hearing that, a certain anarchist group took to the streets at the instigation of some insane person! The same thing is being repeated now.
Nawfel has also cited the Quran his status and urged everyone to respect the verses in Quran. Moreover, he brushed off all such claims made of Facebook saying, these are only spread to hate mongers.
Under Sheikh Hasina's leadership, nobody has the audacity to disrespect the Quran, he wrote.
On Wednesday (October 13), several Puja Mandaps (makeshift temples) came under attack after a Quran was found at a Puja Mandap in Comilla.
Puja celebration committee secretary Nirmal Pal said that after the news spread on social media that a Quran had been placed in beneath an idol of a puja mandap in Nanuardighi area of the city, local police went and recovered it.
Immediately afterwards, that group of who saw the Quran, tried to attack several puja mandaps.
Police said, they are trying to bring the situation under control.
