Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Kazi Habibul Awal said that the delay in receiving votes in electronic voting machines (EVMs) in Rangpur City Corporation election has worried the Election Commission.
The CEC made the opinion while addressing a view exchange meeting with reporters and vote observers at Agarganon in the capital on Wednesday.
He said that efforts will be made to overcome such incidents in the future.
In some cases, the fingerprints of the voters did not match our database. Complaints coming in for slow voting is a first for us. This has made us very worried, he added.
Rangpur City Corporation was held on December 27. The vote using EVM there was supposed to end at 4:30 pm but it ended at 8 pm. As a result, today’s meeting was organized to hear about the experience of journalists and field-level officials.
