Up until Sunday, at least 15 people had perished from heatstroke in 15 days.

The deaths were confirmed by the Directorate General of Health Services‍‍` (DGHS) Health Emergency Operation Center and Control Room (HEOC & CR).

DGHS recorded the fatalities based on information obtained at its control center.

In addition, in the 24 hours leading up to Monday morning, heatstroke caused three injuries and one fatality nationwide.

Beginning in the first week of April, a heat wave ranging from mild to quite severe ravaged the nation for around one month. Following rainfall during the first week of this month, temperatures began to drop nationwide later on.

The government was also compelled by the heat wave to close colleges, madrashas, and elementary and secondary institutions until May 2.
