Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) has appointed two members of the transgender community for the first time.
DNCC Mayor Md Atiqul Islam disclosed the information while speaking at an event at Justice Shahabuddin Ahmed Park in the capital’s Gulshan on Wednesday (December 22).
DNCC has also appointed two acid survivors and women with disabilities, added the mayor.
They two transgender employees are: Moinul Islam Anamika and Asif Newaz Megh.
According to DNCC officials, the transgender staff will serve at the DNCC headquarters in Gulshan.
