HC order on Samrat’s bail suspension Wednesday

The High Court will pass order on Wednesday whether the bail of expelled Juba League leader Ismail Chowdhury Samrat will be canceled or not in a case filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) on charges of amassing illegal assets.

A High Court bench comprising Justice Nazrul Islam Talukder and Justice Izarul Haque Akand passed the order on Tuesday. The hearing on his bail application has been concluded today.

ACC lawyer Khulshid Alam Khan confirmed the matter to reporters.

Earlier on 12 May, ACC lawyer Khurshid Alam Khan had said, "We will apply for bail on Monday as the court is closed at this moment." One of the four cases against Samrat was the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) case. In this case, he will apply for suspension of bail.

On Wednesday, Judge Al Asad Md. Asifuzzaman of Dhaka Special Judge Court-6 granted the bail after conducting hearing.

The Samrat was granted bail until his medical report was submitted.
