Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Qazi Habibul Awal said the legality of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s participation in the upcoming polls will be looked into, anything cannot be confirmed as of now.
He made the remark in response to questions from journalists on Wednesday. The press asked whether Khaleda Zia who has been convicted of corruption will be able to take part in the upcoming elections in December 2023 or January 2024.
He said, "I will not answer any question about this now. It will be looked into when it happens. Everything will be according to the legal system. I cannot make a remark regarding this matter in advance."
