On Wednesday night, Border Guard Bangladesh claimed to have detained two people with 112 gold bars, weighing 16.5 kilograms, from Benapole.
The arrestees are Omar Faruk, 27, and Farhad Hossain, 32, of Chandpur district.
BGB-21 commander Lieutenant Colonel Minhaj Ahmed Siddique said that, their team nabbed the duo from border area at about 9:30pm and seized the 112 gold bars worth Tk 16.5 crore.
He added, the process is on to file a case at Benapole Port police station in this connection.
