People of 23 districts of the south-western region are heading home using Padma Bridge on the occasion of Eid Ul Azha. The Expressway is heavily loaded with long-distance public transport and private vehicles heading towards South West Bengal. In the last 24 hours, 43 thousand 137 vehicles have crossed the Padma bridge. 4 crore 60 lakh 53 thousand 300 taka has been collected in this toll. This is the highest toll collection record ever on Padma Bridge.
The bridge authorities informed this on Wednesday morning.
Earlier, on July 8 last year, the maximum toll of Tk 4 crore 19 lakh 39 thousand 650 was collected at Padma Bridge.
Additional Director of Padma Bridge Side Office Amirul Haider Chowdhury said that there is extra traffic pressure at the Mawa end of Padma Bridge during Eid. But no problems have not arisen. People of 23 districts of south-western region are able to travel smoothly through Padma Bridge.
He also said that every 5 seconds, 15 vehicles are crossing the Padma Bridge. According to that, every minute 180 vehicles are going on the bridge through toll.
