India wants safe, secure sustainable return of the Rohingyas: PM

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said India has crystallized its perspective on the Rohingya crisis and the country wants a safe, secure sustainable return of the Rohingyas.

The prime minister made the remarks while answering a query of Naem Nizam, editor of the daily Bangladesh Pratidin, on Wednesday.

Asked about India's stance regarding Rohingya repatriation, she said: "India is very cordial in this regard. They are ready to assist Bangladesh in sending Rohingyas back to Myanmar. But, Myanmar here is the biggest obstacle."

"The Myanmar military junta doesn't pay heed to anyone. They are dealing with their internal crisis right now. But, they must take back their nationals," PM added.

She further said the Rohingya community people are also human beings and that's why Bangladesh cannot ditch them.

She said: "We want a sustainable solution over the Rohingya repatriation issue. Our government wants them to return to their country. But, we cannot force them to leave Bangladesh as they are human beings too."
