Court sent Ashish Roy Chowdhury to jail

A Dhaka court today sent Ashish Roy Chowdhury, an accused in actor Sohel Chowdhury murder case, to jail in connection with another case filed under the Narcotics Control Act.

Metropolitan Magistrate Syed Mostafa Reza Nur passed the order after Shamim Hossain, a sub-inspector of Gulshan Police Station and also the investigation officer of the case, brought him before it with a forwarding report in which the police official appealed to confine him in jail.

The magistrate also set April 10  for hearing on a bail petition submitted by Ashish's  lawyer. Rapid Action Battalion on Tuesday ( April 5) arrested Ashish from his Gulshan home in Dhaka. They also seized 17 bottles of foreign alcohol from his residence. Later, a case was filed against him with Gulshan Police Station under the Narcotics Control Act.

On december 18,1998, Sohel Chowdhury, a popular actor of bangla film industry, was shot dead by miscreants at Trumps Club in Abedin Tower, in Dhaka's Banani area.
