The International Crimes Tribunal-1 has sentenced three Moulvibazar men -- one of them in absentia-- to death for committing crimes during the Liberation War in 1971.
The convicts are Abdul Aziz alias Habul, Abdul Mannan and Abdul Matin of Baralekha upazila in the district. Of them, Matin is still on the run.
The three-member tribunal led by Justice Md Shahinur Islam announced the verdict on Thursday, Prosecutor Sabina Yesmin Khan confirmed while talking to a national daily.
