Wife allegedly raped keeping husband confined in a room in JU campus

An outsider couple was captivated inside a forest of Jahangirnagar University (JU) and the wife was allegedly raped there.

The accused are Mostafizur Rahman, a student of the 45th batch of the International Relations Department of the university. Mostafiz is a resident student of Mir Musharraf Hossain Hall and International Affairs Secretary of the University Branch Chhatra League. It has been alleged that an outsider Mamun is also involved with him.

The incident took place in the forest adjacent to the university‍‍`s Mir Musharraf Hossain Hall around 9:30 pm on Saturday.

The victim is a resident of Jirani area of ​​Ashulia. She said that the accused Mamun lives on rent in their house. Mamun used to stay at JU Hall with his acquaintance Mostafiz. Mamun called the victim and her husband to come to JU  on Saturday evening with some of his belongings. Mamun and Mostafiz took the victim to the forest adjacent to the hall as her husband would come through another gate.  The woman alleged that she was raped there. It is known that he was confined in room number 317 of ‍‍`A‍‍` block of Mir Musharraf Hossain Hall.

Due to this incident, Mostafiz was expelled from the university branch Chhatra League. He is known as a follower of Branch Chhatra League President Aktaruzzaman Sohel.

Aktaruzzaman Sohel, President of the University Branch Chhatra League, said, "Based on the allegations raised against Mostafiz, he has been expelled from the Jahangirnagar University Branch Chhatra League. Besides, a recommendation will be made centrally for his permanent expulsion."

Proctor ASM Firoz-ul-Hasan said that he was informed about the incident, "Attempts are being made to collect the CCTV footage of the hall. Whoever is involved in the incident will be punished according to country and university laws. If the police needs any kind of cooperation from us, we are ready to cooperate", he continued.

In this regard, Savar Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Investigation, Abdur Rasik said,"The victim came to the police station and reported the incident. We are going to the spot for preliminary investigation. Further action will be taken subject to investigation."

Meanwhile, everyone in the campus started to know about the incident and the students began protesting outside the Mir Musharraf Hossain Hall. They were screaming slogans for a rapist free campus.

Students have announced a protest program in front of Mir Musharraf Hossain Hall at 1 pm on Sunday.
