Benazir Ahmed challenges to return assets if corruption allegations are proven

Former Inspector General of Police (IGP) Benazir Ahmed has issued a bold challenge, vowing to relinquish his assets if proven guilty of corruption allegations against him.

In a video uploaded to his verified Facebook page titled ‍‍`Amar Kichu Katha‍‍` on Saturday, April 20, Ahmed fervently denied reports alleging illicit accumulation of wealth for himself and his family.

"All the assets that I and my family have are properly documented in tax records, along with the source of income," Ahmed asserted in the video. "I have been recognized as the best taxpayer for my consistent tax contributions."

Highlighting his commitment to combating corruption during his tenure, Ahmed emphasized his efforts to reform police administration and ensure transparent promotions. He expressed dismay over attempts to tarnish his reputation post-retirement.

Asserting his family‍‍`s right to engage in business activities, Ahmed refuted claims of undisclosed properties and investments. He clarified that his family‍‍`s agricultural ventures in Gopalganj have been openly conducted since 2014, with taxes diligently paid on personal and business income for 24 years.

Addressing specific allegations, Ahmed refuted ownership of properties such as Bhawal Resort and Unique Regency Hotel, dismissing claims of investments in businesses and institutions abroad. He denied involvement in gold trading in Singapore and land ownership in Thailand and Malaysia.

In a bid to set the record straight, Ahmed debunked rumors surrounding his property acquisitions, asserting, "We do not possess any undisclosed properties, nor do we have investments in the businesses mentioned."

Concluding his statement, Ahmed reiterated his intent to clarify the facts, emphasizing the importance of personal integrity and moral responsibility in addressing the allegations against him.
