Two more MPs have resigned after former UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson. With the resignation of three MPs in just two days, the current Prime Minister Rishi Sunak is under additional pressure.
Boris Johnson, the former leader of the ruling Conservative Party, announced his resignation from the House of Commons yesterday. The Privileges Committee was investigating him for throwing birthday parties and other parties during the lockdown. Johnson was accused of lying to the House of Commons despite partying in lockdown. However, he left before the committee gave its verdict.
Meanwhile, if any MP resigns after three MPs, the pressure on Prime Minister Rishi Sunak will continue to increase. Already, the leaders of the opposition Liberal Democrat Party, Daisy Cooper and Ed Davey, have called for a new general election.
"The Conservative Party is in meltdown and they must call a general election," he said.
