Dubai-bound flight caught fire shortly after take off, situation normalized afterwards

A Dubai-bound plane caught fire shortly after take off from Nepal‍‍`s Kathmandu airport. The pilot initially tried to bring the plane with 150 passengers back to Kathmandu‍‍`s Tribhuvan International Airport. However, as the situation normalized, the flight later started for Dubai. Of the 150 passengers on the plane, 50 were reportedly Nepalis.

Quoting local media, Indian media Hindustan Times reported that United Arab Emirates-based Airlines Fly Dubai flight number 576 (Boeing 737-800) started its journey to Dubai from Nepal‍‍`s Tribhuvan International Airport. The plane caught fire shortly after takeoff. 

The pilot reported the problem to the airport control tower as the plane hovered in the air due to engine issues. However, after the fault was found, the situation returned to normal and the passengers survived a terrible planes crash. Later, the pilot flew the plane and landed in Dubai.

According to Nepal‍‍`s Private Aviation Authority, the plane took off at 9:20 am (local time) on Monday. Nepal‍‍`s Civil Aviation Minister, Sudan Kirati said on his verified Facebook that the Dubai-bound flight Fly Dubai flight flew safely to its destination. He also urged not to worry about this issue.

Airplane accidents happen frequently in Nepal. In January this year, the ATR 72 aircraft met with an accident on the way from Kathmandu to Pokhara. 72 passengers lost their lives in the plane crash. In terms of the number of victims, this plane crash is the worst plane crash in Nepal in the last thirty years. Earlier in March 2018, a US-Bangla Airlines flight crashed in Kathmandu, killing 51 people out of 71 passengers.
