Seventeen people were killed and 22 others were injured in a road traffic accident in eastern China`s Jiangxi province.
"The accident caused 17 deaths, 22 people were injured, (and) the injured have been sent to the hospital," state broadcaster CCTV reported.
The accident took place just before 1:00 am in Nanchang County.
"The cause of the accident is under in-depth investigation," CCTV added.
According to the witnesses, the accident took place when a truck hit a funeral procession.
People had been carrying out a roadside offering to the dead before planning to head to the crematorium Sunday morning.
