JSC, JDC exams come to an end for good

The government discontinued the system of the Junior School Certificate and Junior Dakhil Certificate examinations as prime minister Sheikh Hasina gave her consent in this regard.

The education ministry on Monday issued an order in this connection.

The JSC and JDC examinations were attended by the students of Class VIII across Bangladesh since 2010.

Due to Covid-19 pandemic, the examinations were not held in the past three years.

In the newly introduced national curriculum, these examinations were also not mentioned.

An education ministry order, issued on Monday, said that as the system of holding JSC and JDC public examinations were not kept in the national curriculum 2021, the matter of discontinuing the JSC and JDC examinations in 2022, 2023 and after these years could be considered.

The order said that the prime minister gave her approval to the proposal.

The order was signed by Secondary and Higher Education Division deputy secretary [public secondary -2] Akhtar Unnesa Shiuli.

She told New Age on Monday that the prime minister gave her approval on January 12 and the ministry got the file on January 15.

‘The order has been issued today and it is in effect immediately,’ she added.
