“India is a true friend of Bangladesh”

"Those who were apprehensive and skeptical about the election - they are now overcome with their mistakes. They are now coming forward to support the new government," said Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury, State Minister for Shipping to Indian envoy. 

Khalid said this following a meeting with Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Prannoy Verma in Khalid‍‍‍‍`s office on Tuesday.

The state minister also said that India is a true friend of Bangladesh, reads a press release.

During the meeting, they discussed bilateral issues of mutual interest. At this time, the High Commissioner of India congratulated the new government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the handout also added.

"The relationship with India is written in blood since the liberation war. They want to stay with all our developments. They will be with all the steps taken by the Ministry of Shipping as well as the Government for the development. Issues regarding sea, river and port have been discussed. Both the countries will work to further enhance connectivity between the duo," Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury stated.

Stating that maritime tourism has started between the two countries, the State Minister also said that the economic zone that is being developed around the Payra Port has the interest of various businessmen of India to invest. 

"There are some issues with the on-arrival visa. We are working to make it even easier," the press release added quoting 

Bangabandhu‍‍`s diplomatic policy was “no enmity with anyone, friendly with all”. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is moving forward according to that policy, he furthered.
