Bangladesh-Qatar forge strong ties with multiple agreements

Bangladesh and Qatar inked five agreements and five memorandums of understanding, marking collaborative efforts between the two nations across various sectors. The signing ceremony, graced by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Qatar‍‍`s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, took place on Tuesday at the Prime Minister‍‍`s Office (PMO).

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina extended a warm welcome to the Emir of Qatar upon his arrival, presenting him with a bouquet of flowers at the Tiger Gate before proceeding to the PMO.

Among the agreements forged were pacts on Mutual Investment Promotion and Protection, Double Avoidance and Tax Evasion, Cooperation in Legal Matters, Maritime Transport, and Establishment of a Joint Business Council between the business entities of both nations. Additionally, memorandums of understanding were signed encompassing cooperation in Diplomatic Training, Higher Education and Scientific Research, Youth and Sports, Manpower, and Port Management.

Following the signing ceremony, the Emir of Qatar is set to pen his thoughts in the visitor‍‍`s book at the Tiger Gate before concluding his visit to the Prime Minister‍‍`s Office. Subsequently, he will be hosted for lunch by President Md. Sahabuddin at Bangabhaban. The Emir is scheduled to depart Bangladesh aboard a special plane later in the evening.

The Emir‍‍`s two-day state visit to Dhaka, initiated upon the special invitation of President Md. Sahabuddin and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, commenced on Monday.
