Concluding their first innings in the Sylhet Test at 317, New Zealand secured a 7-run lead, with Mominul Haque clinching three wickets, two of which were taken during the morning session of day three.

At the close of day two, New Zealand had posted a score of 266 for 8 wickets.

Kane Williamson led their batting with a century in response to Bangladesh’s first-inning total of 310. Daryl Mitchell and Glenn Phillips contributed 41 and 42, respectively.

Taijul Islam proved to be the standout bowler for Bangladesh, claiming four wickets.

In the initial innings, Mahmudul Hasan Joy emerged as the top scorer for Bangladesh, notching 86. He was the sole Bangladeshi batter to reach fifty.

While most other Bangladeshi batters had promising starts, they struggled to capitalize on their innings.

For New Zealand, Phillips emerged as an unexpected hero with the ball, taking four wickets in his second Test.

This series is part of the new cycle of the ICC World Test Championship, marking the first home series of this event for the Tigers.
