The authorities concerned have been ordered by the prime minister, Sheikh Hasina, to distribute the Open Market Sales (OMS) commodities using cards like Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB).
Presided over by the premier, the cabinet meeting held in Prime Minister's Office (PMO) on Monday where she came up with the instructions.
Afterwards, Md Mahbub Hossain, the cabinet secretary, briefed reporters at Secretariat.
According to him, the prime minister ordered to strengthen the management system and distribute the commodities through cards like TCB after the government found several lacking in the management of the continuing OMS program.
The cabinet secretary said that after having discussions with the relevant ministry, it would be decided how and who would receive the cards.
He added that up until the launch of the cards, the OMS program will continue to be administered using the current procedure.
