No place for terrorism in Bangladesh: Army Chief on KNF attack

During his visit to Bandarban following the Kuki-Chin attack, Chief of Army Staff General SM Shafiuddin Ahmed affirmed the unwavering commitment to safeguarding Bangladesh‍‍`s sovereignty.

Speaking at a briefing, General Ahmed reiterated the clear directives of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, emphasizing that every necessary measure to uphold Bangladesh‍‍`s sovereignty will be undertaken. He expressed confidence in the government‍‍`s resolve, stating, "For the peace of the people of Bangladesh, what needs to be done for the sovereignty of Bangladesh, the strict instructions of the Prime Minister must be done. Inshallah we strongly believe that we will be able to implement it."

Responding to concerns raised by journalists regarding public panic in the aftermath of the attack, General Ahmed reassured, "We have come here in person to remove this fear and have done everything we can." He highlighted the swift action taken by law enforcement, leading to the apprehension of terrorists and the recovery of weapons.

Regarding the ongoing peace talks, General Ahmed acknowledged initial trust placed in the process but emphasized the need for necessary steps amidst disturbances. He assured the public, stating, "Inshallah peace will return among the people. They will see that terrorists have no place in Bangladesh."

General Ahmed emphasized proactive measures, stating, "Now that their intentions are clear, we will address this issue collectively, involving all branches of the Bangladesh government – including the army, BGB, RAB, police, and intelligence agencies."

Responding to queries about emergency operations and the whereabouts of Nathan Bom, General Ahmed urged patience for official statements from relevant authorities. He affirmed that if there were advance information about the rise of Nathan Bom, necessary action would have been taken.
