The number of metro rail coaches will not increase. However, there is an arrangement to reduce the interval of movement to two minutes according to Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader.

The Minister said this in response to the questions of the journalists on Monday (February 12)  after the meeting with Alexander V. Mantitsky, the Ambassador of Russia appointed to Bangladesh at the Secretariat.

Obaidul Quader said, "Launching Metrorail in Bangladesh  was like a dream a few years ago. Metrorail has no more than five compartments in any country in the world whereas creating sixth compartment is ongoing in Bangladesh. This is a technical matter. This is no ordinary railway. However, arrangements are being made to reduce the frequency to two minutes."

Trains are currently functioning from Uttara to Motijheel between 7:30 am to 8:30 pm. Trains run every 10 minutes during peak hours and every 12 minutes during the rest period.
