Like borderline district Rajshahi, coronavirus is ramping up in Khulna and Satkhira. Number of deaths and new infection is surging every day. 22 people died in last 24 hours in Khulna division while 9 died in Satkhira alone.
Inaction in implementing ongoing lockdown, defiance of Covid protocols and taking no minimum cautionary measures at burial ground, the deadly virus has been continuing spreading, experts opined.
As many as 22 people died in Khulna division after they caught coronavirus or the symptoms were shown. 625 people were also diagnosed with the virus by this time while 192 recovered.
Director of divisional health department Rasheda Sultana confirmed this to media on Saturday (June 19).
Earlier on Thursday (June 17), 18 died of Covid in the division and 8 on Friday.
Meanwhile, 11 more died while undergoing treatment in Khulna corona hospital. They died between 9am Friday to 9am Saturday. Hospital and health department sources said, this is the highest daily casualty in Khulna after the 2nd wave hit.
Khulna district civil surgeon Dr Niaz Mohammed confirmed the matter to The Media.
