Infections cross 8,000 overnight in Bangladesh

Health authorities in Bangladesh reported 8,407 new Covid-19 cases in a 24-hour count till Tuesday morning. The alarming spike in Covid-19 infections have caused panic among citizens. 

The daily positivity rate jumped to 23.98 percent after testing 35,054 samples, according to government data. 

Earlier Monday the daily positivity rate was 20.88 percent. 

The tally of Covid-19 infections in the country with today's development stands at 1,632,794,

10 more fatalities from Covid-19 were also logged during the same period, taking the tally of Covid-19 deaths in the country to 28,164.

Meanwhile, 475 people recovered from the infectious disease in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of recoveries to 1,553,795.

Among all other divisions, Dhaka reported the highest figures in terms of caes and deaths. Consequently, health authorities marked Dhaka as red-zone. 

The figures were reported between Monday 8:00 am and Tuesday 8:00 am. 

The latest Covid-19 situation in the country was revealed by the Directorate General of Health Services in its routine statement.
