Jobless husband says killed female doctor over family feud

The husband of the female doctor, who was found dead in a Dhaka hotel on Thursday morning, has confessed to killing his wife over a family feud. 

Rezaul Karim Reza, the accused, made the confession on Saturday at the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Rashidul Alam.

He was produced there by Investigation Officer Abu Zafor Md Mahfuzul Kabir, also an inspector of Kalabagan Police Station, brought him (Reza) at the magistrate's chamber, said court sources.

Reza said his wife Jannatul Nayeem Siddique, a 27-year-old native of Narsingdi, often used to engage in altercations over his unemployment.

 

He killed his wife after repeated arguments, the accused said, adding, he did it alone.

Reza was later sent to Dhaka Central Jail in Keraniganj.

On August 11, Jannatul, who was undergoing gynecology training at Dhaka Medical College Hospital after completing her MBBS from a medical college at Moghbazar, was found dead in the Family Service Apartment hotel in Panthapath.

Reza was arrested from Chattogram's Muradpur area a day after the murder. They also seized a blood-stained cloth, mobile phone, a bag from his possession then.
