Bangladesh Awami League has finalized the mayoral candidates in the upcoming Gazipur, Rajshahi, Khulna, Sylhet and Barishal City Corporation elections.
On Saturday (April 15) morning at the Prime Minister's official residence Ganobhaban, Bangladesh Awami League finalized the candidates for the boat symbol in the five cities in the Local Government People's Representative Nomination Board meeting.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina presided over the meeting. After the meeting, Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader briefed the journalists.
Advocate Azmot Ullah Khan in Gazipur City, Talukder Abdul Khaleque in Khulna, Anwaruzzaman Chowdhury in Sylhet, AHM Khairuzzaman Liton in Rajshahi and Abul Khair Abdullah in Barisal have been nominated as candidates of Awami League, according to Obaidul Quader.
The election to Gazipur will be held on May 25, Khulna and Barishal on June 12, and Rashahi and Sylhet on June 21.
