Kolkata police authorities have launched a probe to investigate links between recently detained Dhallywood star Pori Moni and Bollywood superstar Shilpa Shetty’s husband Raj Kundra and his alleged porn production ring, according to recent reports.
CCTV footage from different luxurious hotels in Kolkata’s New Town region have already been collected by Kolkata police.
Different actors are models who starred in Raj Kundra’s alleged pornography content are accused of travelling to these hotels at Kolkata.
Pori Moni is also said to stay in these specific hotels during the last four years whenever she travelled to Kolkata during different shoots.
The Dhallywood starlet starred in several projects in Kolkata. She was cast as the lead heroine in two films produced by renowned West Bengal-based film production company SK Movies. One was ‘Rokto’ and another was a hit Bangladesh-India co-production titled ‘Swapnajaal,’ directed by acclaimed Bangladeshi filmmaker Gias Uddin Selim.
Kolkata police officials’ initial hunch is that Pori Moni might have a link with the suspected Indian model and actors affiliated with Kundra’s porn ring. Some well-known film producers are also suspected to be linked with this group.
A Kolkata police officer named Bishop Sarker, who is currently investigating these links, confirmed these recent developments to several Indian media outlets on Thursday (August 12).
“We have collected several footages from different hotels. These will be very useful to know whether Rajkundra has any connection with Pori. In addition to this, we have interrogated several suspects and received different sorts of information on this matter,” he added.
Indian business tycoon and Shilpa Shetty’s husband is currently under investigation by the Mumbai police for his alleged production and distribution of pornography content through a smartphone app called ‘Hotshots.’
He was arrested on July 19.
However, several Bollywood celebs have come forward publicly in support of Kundra and claimed his OTT platform produces ‘erotica,’ not porn.
Moreover, Dhallywood actor Pori Moni became the talk of the nation in Bangladesh after a series of raids on August 4.
She and her aide Bangladeshi film producer Nazrul Islam Raz were arrested with liquor and drugs from their respective homes in the capital’s Banani on the same day.
Bangladesh Police’s elite force RAB, who conducted these raids, also claimed to have seized BDSM and porn making equipment from Raz’s home during the operation.
Pori is currently under investigation in several drug cases while Raz and his aides are being investigated in cases under the Narcotics and Pornography Act.
