US is committed to help Bangladesh in holding free and fair elections.

Foreign Minister Anthony Blinken said that the United States is committed to work with Bangladesh to help organize free and fair parliamentary elections. Bangladesh is becoming a regional leader with its fast-growing economy, well-educated workforce and progressive young population.

He said this in a statement to congratulate the people of Bangladesh on the occasion of Independence Day. The statement was published on the website of the US State Department.

"The United States is committed to work with Bangladesh to help hold free and fair elections," Anthony Blinken said in a statement.

Blinken said that democratic norms, good governance, human rights and media freedom are important foundations for building development, stability and prosperity in society. He believes that Bangladesh will achieve these with its huge potential.

In a statement expressing the ambition to strengthen the relationship with Bangladesh in the upcoming years, the US Secretary of State said, "The United States is proud of its partnership with Bangladesh and its achievements over the past five decades."

"In recent times we have achieved great progress working together to fight the COVID-19, the adverse effects of climate change, and create a free Indo-Pacific region", said Blinken.

The US Secretary of State said, "Bangladesh has shown its commitment to humanity by sheltering the Rohingya who fled to save their lives. Bangladesh has also shown strong leadership in environmental protection and climate adaption."
