Khaleda Zia may be invited to Padma Bridge opening ceremony: Quader

All the political parties including BNP will be invited in the inaugural ceremony of Padma Bridge, said Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader.

Asked on if BNP is invited whether or not Khaleda Zia will get the invitation as the party chairperson, Obaidul said, “Certainly, she may get invitation as per rules. She is convicted. Nevertheless, as BNP chairperson she should get the invitation. But, we will invite as per rules.”

Quader, also the general secretary of ruling Awami League, said this while speaking to reporters after a programme held at Brac-in centre in the capital on Saturday.

He said, the World Bank skipped the Padma Bridge project raising corruption allegation. But its country director will get the invitation.

Referring to the next general election Quader said, “BNP is a big political party. We want, they take part in election. If you want the change of power, you must take part in election.”

Criticising BNP he said, “BNP is threatening to kill Sheikh Hasina. He urged Mirza Fakhrul to control those party-men who are giving speech saying that the August 15 will repeat.”
