2,500 BNP men sued over Manikganj clash

A total of 2,500 people, 33 of them named, have been sued in connection with the clashes between police and BNP activists in Manikganj.

 

Sub-Inspector Md Abdul Liton of Manikganj Sadar Police Station filed the case with the station on Thursday night. 

 

Of the accused, three have been nabbed from the spot while drives to capture the rest is underway, say police. 

 

According to the case statement, on the day of the incident, the accused blocked Shaheed Taju Road in Shewta area and started chanting anti-government and anti-state slogans during a programme marking BNP's 44th founding anniversary.

 

The protesters started pushing and shoving members of police after they were requested to unblock the road to keep traffic situation under control, reads the statement.
