A student of Jahangirnagar University died after falling off the roof of a dormitory building in the university during the rain on Tuesday.
The deceased was identified as Amit Kumar Biswas, a student of the 2015-16 session of Department of Botany.
Professor Dr Sohel Ahmed, provost of Shaheed Rafiq-Jabbar Hall, said Amit slipped off the roof of the five-storey Shaheed Rafiq-Jabbar Hall building while bathing in the rain around 2pm.
Later, students rushed him to University medical centre and then to Enam Medical College and Hospital for better treatment.
However, Amit succumbed to his injuries at the hospital around 5pm, said Prof Sohel.
He also said Amit suffered a cardiac arrest after hospitalisation and was later shifted to the ICU.
