Facebook, Messenger, Instagram restored after one hour global outage

Meta Services Facebook, Messenger, and Instagram experienced a nearly hour-long global outage today.

Users reported being unable to access Facebook and Messenger at around 9:15 pm today.

However, the services were back online around 10:15pm.

Andy Stone, communications director of Meta, in an X post, said, "We‍‍`re aware people are having trouble accessing our services. We are working on this now."

However, WhatsApp remained unaffected until the time of filing this report.

When users attempted to connect into their accounts, a warning appeared stating "session expired, please log in again".

DownDetector.com, a global outage detection site, reported that Facebook has had the most disruptions since 9:00 p.m. tonight (in Bangladesh time). It revealed 3,260 user complaints from the United States indicating problems with Facebook at 9:10 p.m. Bangladesh time on March 5, 2024, with the number of user reports increasing to 315,817 by 9:25 pm.

In May 2023, there were 59,004,100 Facebook users in Bangladesh, representing 33.6% of the total population.

According to social media giant Meta, Bangladesh is one of the top three nations contributing to Facebook‍‍`s active user growth as of December 31, 2022.
