PM: Dhaka to see different rail connectivity by 2030

According to the prime minister, Sheikh Hasina, several rail connections will be available to Dhaka residents by 2030 in an effort to reduce traffic.

During the opening of train service from Rooppur, Shashidal, and Joydebpur railway stations on the recently installed 69.20km rail track under three projects of Bangladesh Railway, the premier made this remark.

"Not only on the overhead (elevated route), but also we are going to underground . . .," she said referring to the inauguration of construction works of the underground rail under MRT-I scheme.

She remarked in reference to the start of construction on the underground rail under the MRT Line-1 scheme, "Not just on the overhead (elevated route), but also we are heading to underneath. It (rail) will ease people's communication, movement and save fuel cost as well as many more.”

 

With Railways Minister Md Nurul Islam Sujan in the chair, Railways Secretary Dr Md Humayun Kabir delivered the welcome address.Bangladesh Railway, the premier made this remark.
