Ukraine received warplanes from Slovakia for the first time

Slovakia has given four fighter jets to Ukraine as part of its military assistance in the war against Russia. According to the earlier announcement, the country is sending 13 MiG aircraft from its inventory to Ukraine. Following this, Slovakia sent four MiGs to the Zelenskiy administration last Thursday.

According to the Reuters report, these Soviet-era warplanes were flown from Slovakia to the airport by Ukrainian pilots.

Slovakia‍‍`s defense ministry said four fighter jets were handed over to Ukraine on Thursday. As promised, the rest of the fighter jets will be handed over to Ukraine within weeks.

Meanwhile, Russia has repeatedly accused NATO of protracting the war by supplying advanced weapons to Ukraine. Moscow also alleged that the US-led Western military alliance was "directly" involved in the conflict by continuing to supply Ukraine with arms.

Ukraine has been asking its neighbors and Western countries for warplanes for several months to prevent Russian aggression. Responding to that appeal, Slovakia, a member of NATO, a military alliance of Western countries led by the United States, gave warplanes to Ukraine.
