Four China returnees tested Covid positive at HSIA

Four citizens who returned to Bangladesh from China have been tested positive for coronavirus. Their samples have been sent to the Covid-19 dedicated DNCC hospital for further testing. All the patients have been taken into isolation.

IEDCR director Dr. Tahmina Shireen confirmed this information to the media on Monday.

Dr. Shirin said, this afternoon at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, four China returnees were diagnosed with Covid-19. After that their samples were sent to IEDCR. We have not received the test results yet. As a result, it is not yet certain whether they are infected with the new subtype of omicron or not.

Stating that it will take time to test the sample, Shirin said, the result of the test will be sent to the health department.

According to airport sources, a China Eastern Airlines flight landed in Dhaka on Monday afternoon. At that time, health officials suspected that 20 Chinese citizens had noticeably red ears. Immediately afterward, a rapid antigen test confirmed that four of the passengers were infected with Covid-19.
